The sustainability platform NATUR organised the NATUR exhibition in Basel. This well-established event performed the functions of a festival, congress and gala for a sustainable lifestyle. Featuring the motto "Meeting point – Enjoyment – Lifestyle", the event took place from 13 to 16 April 2012 in the halls of the Messe Basel exhibition venue.

Prix NATURE Swisscanto "Main Prize"
The main prize is awarded for the life’s work of individuals or for outstanding achievements of organisations, companies or scientific institutions. In 2012 it went to the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL). The prize money was CHF 10,000.

Prix NATURE Swisscanto "Generation Future"
The prize in the "Generation Future" category is awarded for new ideas or to young companies which develop a sustainable project with a direct reference to Switzerland. In 2012, it went to the EcaVert start-up project. The company develops green innovations such as the "vertical green biobed". This plant-based effluent treatment system degrades the pollutants that are produced when pesticides and herbicides are used. The prize money was CHF 10,000.

Prix NATURE Swisscanto "Beacons of Hope"
The third prize, for the "Beacons of Hope" category, is awarded to personalities who appeal to a wide public and use this to raise awareness in large parts of the population for the topic of sustainability. The award winner for 2012 is orienteering athlete and multiple world champion Simone Niggli-Luder.
